This Image is from the film Wallace and Gromit: The Wrong trousers. Wallace & Grommit: The Wrong Trousers: Cracking Toast! Stop motion animation can take all kinds of forms, from photos of people or objects taken with people doing small movements, to cut out paper cut into many different shapes with pictures taken to show movement, to clay models that have small movements in each picture to make the animation seem smoother, this is also known as clay animation or clay-mation. This gives the illusion that the objects are moving on their own. The objects are moved in very small movements between photographs, which are then played back in a continuous sequence to form a video. Stop motion is an animation technique that involves physical objects and makes them look like they are moving on their own. I will include reference to Nick Park, the creator of Wallace and Grommit, and his work, and I will give a definition of Stop Motion Animation. I will describe 4 pieces of Nick Park’s work and include illustrations, include what “persistence of vision” means and what is meant by “stop frame” and finally what frame rate is.
